DISSOLVED AIR FLOATATION UNIT (DAF)

CONTINUOUS UP-FLOW SAND FILTRATION

Feed water is fed into a filter from the bottom of an active sand bed through a distribution ring while the sand bed continuously moves downwards. Inlet water is partially used for filtering capacity regeneration. The sand bed is regenerated 3-4 times a day in order to maintain filtration performance. Backwash is approximately 5% of the inlet water. Continuous self-cleaning sand filters do not require a storage volume for backwash water and operate at atmospheric pressure with low energy consumption. A standard filter comes with an Intelli-filter for automatic control of pressure drops and the ABF system to adjust the backwash flow.

UASB (UP-FLOW ANAEROBIC SLUDGE BLANKET)

UASB (Up-flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket) technology is based on the permanence of bacteria into a reactor due to the granulation of biomass. It aggregates granular particles that sediment rapidly and remain in the reactor. Wastewater enters the bottom of the reactor through an inlet distribution system. Soluble COD is rapidly converted into biogas and upward circulation is established. The treated effluent flows at the top of the reactor into collection channels for discharge. UASB plants are compact and modular, operating with high organic loads. Both concrete basin and stainless-steel reactors are possible. A special three-phase separator is very efficient in retaining biomass in the reactor, collecting the biogas and segregating the clarified effluent.

DOUBLE TREAT

In the Double Treat process, the secondary sedimentation is replaced by Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) for a more efficient and reliable separation of the treated effluent from the biological sludge.  The clarified effluent passes through a continuous self-cleaning sand filter that provides the final polishing step for the suspended solids removal, in order to guarantee a constant high-quality effluent. Double Treat plants can operate at high biomass concentration and are therefore very compact. Sludge thickening is obtained during clarification without additional equipment and costs. Due to the robust aeration and sludge clarification system, Double Treat plants are reliable and long-lasting requiring no maintenance.

SBR (SEQUENCE BATCH REACTOR)

Andion has expertise in the application of SBR technology, integrated with special mixing and aeration systems in biological oxidation. Influent wastewater enters the equalization basin and is loaded into an oxidation basin during a programmed load time. Both aerating and mixing or only mixing phases allow nitrification and denitrification of the nitrogen present in the wastewater. At the end of the treatment, aeration and mixing stop and the biological sludge sediments into a reactor. Effluent discharge is operated by an internal floating clarifier
